Release of Doves or Butterflies

DOVE RELEASE
Over the ages, birds have been released at the weddings of important people, celebrating their union. The rush of wings, as White Doves soar into the sky, adds a special excitement to the ceremony.

Doves are beautiful representations of peace and release that might prove appropriate in weddings also in relation to a memorial to loved ones not able to be present due to death.

Since ancient times, birds have been released at state funerals, celebrating the life and departure of leaders from this world, free to join the next.

We are sending a dove to Heaven
With a parcel on its wings
Be careful when you open it
It’s full of beautiful things.
Inside are a million kisses
Wrapped in a million hugs
To say how much you mean to us
And send you all our love.
Love and Missing you more
Tha words can ever say.

BUTTERFLY RELEASE
Butterflies are so delicate and beautiful. Their almost ethereal flitting flutter, and hesitancy to depart—often lighting on a person or object before leaving, has been used as symbol of the departing soul.

As you release this butterfly in honor of me,
Know that I’m with you and will always be.
Hold a hand, say a prayer, close your eyes and see me there.
Although you may feel a bit torn apart,
Please know that I’ll be forever in your heart.
Now fly away butterfly as high as you can go,
I’m right there with you more than you know.
“What the caterpillar perceives as the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning.”

A butterfly captures our hearts
from the moment they appear.
They are vibrant and graceful
as their presence lifts our spirits.
Gone much too soon,
they will never be forgotten.

Oh, Little Butterfly,
Messenger of God,
When I see you in the sky,
I cannot help but nod.
You bring me respite,
From grief and despair,
Every time I see you,
Sailing through the air.
You renew my faith,
In all God’s wondrous plan,
And I know it’s all in faith,
Not in what I understand.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed…
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Butterfly
As you danced in the light with joy,
love lifted you. As you brushed against
this world so gently, you lifted us.
